JZ Photography

As I mentioned, JZ Photography is a favorite photographer in our family.
And we are not biased just because he's Aubry Kaye's big brother and Shan Rae's husband.

He's been editing photos and taking headshots for Urban for years and has lots of fun capturing memories with all the new camera quirks.

Remodeled and Remade

One of our big, fun projects was painting and redecorating our sister's room. We made it into a very creative four months of planning, sewing, hot gluing and thinking. Best of all, we somehow kept the secret.
In June, she went on a week long camp trip with our church young women group. It was the perfect time to get everything out of her room, clean, paint, put things together, take things apart and make it look great. Using her favorite color and a few cheerful touches, we got it done JUST in time.

We made some cute quilts for her bunk bed. One was out of her favorite colors, the others from her old favorite t-shirts. We made a double fleece blanket and a couple pillows out of scraps from the quilt fabrics.

Shan has a cute silhouette type things we LOVE to play with! But we had to complete the room before she got it. So we went out and looked for fun vinyls to put on her closet and her dresser drawers.

I had some old pin boards that were really inexpensive and flimsy. We decided to make something out of them. We cut up old jeans, got our hot glue guns and went to work! One pocket for bobby pins, one for ponytail holders!

JZ Photography is our favorite photographer. We've used them for graduations, senior pictures, family photos, and soon, for my wedding! He's pretty amazing, if I do say so myself and I'll share his pictures a lot on our blog. He took these fabulous pictures portraying my little sister and her personality. Plus, they went perfectly with her gray and blue plaid walls!
My brother, who is amazing at painting and drawing, drew this tree onto the wall and then painted it and the blossoms in the corner of her room.

We had so much fun making everything, getting ideas and carrying them out. We made up our own patterns and made things that we are now envious of. We wanted to create a room that she would love with a low budget.

Hey! We have a blog!

So I guess you could say we sort of hopped on the old bandwagon and got ourselves a blog! We have been discussing this for awhile and have made it our project this week. I guess we should back up a bit and tell about who "we" are!

"We" are two sisters (in law) who are also best friends! We have been told that we are crafty and creative! "We" are Shanda Rae (hence the "rae") and Aubry Kaye. Shanda married Aubry's brother and now "we" are a happy family!

Shanda is a clogger (what's that you ask?) She likes to describe it as "tap, only cooler" but nowadays it's even more than that. You take the best of jazz, and tap, and ballet, and even folk dancing and irish dancing, and you get clogging! Clogging has been a part of Shan's life for 20 years now! It's even how she met her husband! Shanda also has gotten into cooking more now that she has become a wife. And with a gift of a Silhouette machine she has also become quite the crafter! Shanda teaches preschool and clogging for a living and can't wait to have her own kids someday (hopefully) soon!

Aubry is a twenty year old college student with a fairy tale romance! She met her fiance in high school and dated him until he left on his LDS mission. She wrote him the whole two years he was serving and their relationship became stronger than ever. He proposed on Christmas Eve, six months after returning home. Aubry is an amazing writer. She loves to organize-maybe even a little too much! And she is currently going to school to become a social worker.

Now that you've gotten to know us we hope you will enjoy this little blog of ours.

Thanks for visiting!
